BECOMING A VOLUNTEER ...
Volunteers can engage in all of KCC’s departments, from education and social work to talent development and community outreach. You may choose to assist in existing programs or even develop your own project in collaboration with our local volunteers.
Before arriving, we encourage you to think about what you’d like to do and how your skills can be applied in a resource-limited setting. The possibilities are vast: you can teach children or adults, offer creative workshops, support with digital media, or help design and renovate spaces like classrooms. You might choose to coach sports, organize music or dance sessions, assist in talent development, or contribute to administrative tasks. Since KCC is an open and flexible centre, any talent or expertise you bring can be turned into a meaningful contribution.

Since KCC is a small organization with limited resources, we may not always be able to provide funding for new ideas and projects. However, we welcome creative solutions, and you are encouraged to fundraise or find alternative ways to support your ideas. New perspectives and initiatives help us grow, and we are excited to hear yours!
MAKING A LASTING IMPACT
We recognize that volunteers may only be with us for a limited time. That’s why we encourage you to consider how your project can continue even after you leave. Sustainable ideas help strengthen KCC and ensure your contributions have a long-term impact.
ACCOMODATION
Volunteers at KCC have several accommodation options, depending on their preferences and budget. Host Family Stay: Experience local life firsthand by staying with a host family. You’ll have a private room, access to washing facilities (self-service), and meals provided. This option offers an immersive cultural exchange and a chance to be part of a Tanzanian household. Guesthouses & Lodges: Volunteers can also choose to stay in a local guesthouse or beach lodge. The conditions and amenities depend on the provider, but KCC is happy to assist in finding a suitable option. KCC Shelter Stay: As part of our Street Children Rehabilitation Program, KCC operates a shelter for children. Volunteers who wish to contribute directly to this program can stay in one of the two available rooms at the shelter. The rent from these rooms goes directly towards supporting the children’s home. While all accommodations provide basic necessities, volunteers should be prepared for living conditions that may differ from what they are used to at home. Electricity and water supply can sometimes be inconsistent, and daily life may be simpler than in more developed areas. However, these experiences are part of the journey and provide a meaningful insight into the local way of life
COST
The costs of volunteering at KCC depend on various factors, including the duration of your stay and your choice of accommodation. Below is an overview of the estimated expenses. Please note that these are approximate figures and may vary based on individual preferences, host family arrangements, or changes in local prices. Volunteer Contribution Fee KCC asks international volunteers to contribute a one-time fee based on the length of their stay. This fee helps support KCC’s daily operations and ensures the sustainability of our programs. Accommodation costs The cost of accommodation depends on the option you choose. Staying with a host family typically includes meals, while guesthouses or lodges may have different pricing structures. KCC can assist in finding a suitable place to stay. Living Expenses Beyond accommodation, volunteers should budget for daily expenses such as food (if not included), transportation, and personal needs. Please be sure, that these costs can vary depending on lifestyle choices. These estimated costs provide a general idea of common expenses to help you plan your budget. Actual costs may vary, so it's always a good idea to have some extra funds set aside for unexpected situations and emergencies.
