OUR NETWORK OF SUPPORT
KCC relies on a diverse range of funding sources to sustain and expand its programs. Our financial support comes from four key areas: Sponsorships, Donations, Project Funding, and Income-Generating Activities. This mix allows us to maintain our independence while continuing to grow and serve the community.
SPONSORSHIP & SUPPORT
We are supported by numerous individuals who contribute in various ways. Some provide scholarships for children, while others — both local and international — donate money, food, and materials. Many visitors also bring supplies to support our programs.
DONATIONS
Donations from private individuals, NGOs, and companies make up our main source of income. Over the years, we have built strong relationships with key supporters. Along with them, there are several more partners, that support our daily work.
Wings of Support has been a vital partner of KCC since 2011, providing long-term support in multiple areas. As a foundation linked to KLM Airlines, they have contributed significantly to our education, sports, and talent development programs. WOS already supported many projects including Bajaji for education department running cost, office renovation, material for talent development program, equipment for income generation activities like tents, PA music system and chairs for KCC to rent out. Also WOS supposes KCC for three years with a running cost project from 2023-2025 for allowances and salaries as well as other running costs of the whole organization. With our kindergarten WOS they funded money to buy a minibus to correct children from our old KCC area to a new place where they attend the Day Care program every day. Additionally WOS from time to time they bring lots of goodies through KLM crew members who are flying to Dar from Amsterdam such as sawing machines, computers, sport kits, school materials etc. Thanks to their donations we could achieve all these during our collaboration. Through their ongoing generosity, Wings of Support has strengthened KCC’s impact, helping us create opportunities and a brighter future for the children and youth we serve.
The Peter Ustinov Foundation from Germany has been instrumental in improving the learning environment for our youngest children. Their support enabled us to renovate our nursery classrooms, creating a more spacious and welcoming setting where children can learn, play, and grow. In addition to expanding the classrooms, they helped us enhance essential areas for the children to rest and eat, ensuring that they feel safe and comfortable throughout their time at KCC. Thanks to their donations, we can supply school uniforms, textbooks, and essential learning materials for up to 90 children each year in our nursery program. Beyond materials, the Peter Ustinov Foundation has also helped sustain our education department, especially in our Day Care, by covering running costs including salaries for teachers, as well as materials for the children. Through their continued generosity, the Peter Ustinov Foundation has played a key role in strengthening KCC’s impact, ensuring that children receive quality education in a nurturing environment.
Deswos has been a key partner in the expansion of KCC’s facilities in Gezaulole. With their help, we are currently constructing new classrooms to provide more children and youth with access to quality education and skill development. This project is still in progress, and we anticipate that the classrooms will be completed by late 2025 or early 2026. Once finished, these new spaces will not only allow us to welcome more students but also enable us to start our own primary school, creating even greater opportunities for learning and growth within the community. Through their continued generosity, the Peter Ustinov Foundation and DESWOS have played a key role in strengthening KCC’s impact, ensuring that children receive quality education in a nurturing environment.
PROJECT FUNDING
We also receive financial support for specific projects. To name just one example of a formative project, we would like to highlight Culpeer4Change – a three-year initiative (2019-2022) funded by the European Union. Through this project, we sent over 20 young artists and children abroad to share their stories, perform, and participate in workshops addressing global issues.
INCOME-GENERATING ACTIVITIES
To increase our financial independence, KCC also engages in various activities that generate income, such as:
-
Partnering with a tourism company to offer visitors the chance to attend our weekly shows and performances.
-
Selling handmade products and artwork during our tours.
-
Renting out materials and equipment to the local community.
These combined efforts ensure that KCC can continue providing essential services, education, and creative opportunities for the children and community we serve.
